Avel Mismo moved to London in his twenties to study sculpture. It was there, hammering metal pieces and short-circuiting toy pianos, that a whole range of possibilities opened up for him to delve deeper into his singular sonic exploration. Founder of Badfood and the independent label Atata Records, Avel Mismo has collaborated with artists such as Cruhda, Le Parody, Alpha Maid, and Adam Christensen. Known for his daring performances—and for being the biggest Shakira fan you’ve ever met—he now presents his debut album Telegonia on Humo Internacional, following a string of EP releases. The record is an eclectic surge of tracks that cut through and reflect the thin membrane where this artist’s ambiguous identity takes shape.
