CRUHDA
Cruhda, aka Paula Gómez de Caso, is an artist who grew up in the heart of the Iberian steppe (Meco, Madrid), playing traditional Spanish music on the clarinet. She studied Philosophy in Madrid, founded several post-punk bands, and later became part of VACIADOR 34, a renowned avant-garde musical and political collective based in Carabanchel (Madrid) that has hosted key figures in experimental electronic music from around the world.
In her musical project, Cruhda explores the fusion of electronics with Spanish folk roots. Field recordings, sampling, synthesizers, vocal melodies, and clarinets form the core of her compositions. In 2019, she self-released her debut EP Ibera Morte, co-produced and mixed with Avel Mismo and mastered by Harto Rodríguez. In 2020, Humo Internacional released an extended vinyl edition. She has performed at festivals and venues such as ITHAKA, EUPHONIC, Her (Tenerife), LINK, Museo Reina Sofía, Etopia (Zaragoza), KM28 (Berlin), and Ormside Projects (London). In 2021, she was awarded a residency for electronic musicians at Matadero (Madrid), where she presented a work in progress at the L.E.V. Festival in collaboration with Galician filmmaker Judith Adataberna.
In 2022, Cruhda moved to Berlin and completed the production of her second album, Lux Ahena, with Avel Mismo, mixed and mastered by Bridget Ferrill. The album expands her exploration of electronic and traditional Spanish music, incorporating elements of dark ambient. Themes such as emancipation, land, sisterhood, death, truth, and poetry are central to her artistic vision.
