Raquel Tort’s solo project was born in the medieval town of Hostalric—an evocative setting that frames her fragile blend of electronic beats, distorted vocals, and operatic singing. The result is a cocktail shaped by urban, new age, and experimental electronic influences: a sincere and desperate outburst that Raquel masterfully wraps in each of her appearances, with striking costumes, carefully crafted scenography, photography, and video that hint at the shine of a major star. Under the name Ela Rea, she builds atmospheres that evoke a dark, contemplative pop, weaving in textural elements drawn from experimental electronics before unfolding into exquisite vocal catharses. This places her at a distance from synthpop traditions and closer to contemporary acts like Lingua Ignota. With a background in dance and music production, Raquel has an extensive trajectory in experimental rock bands, as well as working as a producer (Aroa Ay, Victoria Varth, La Pains) and DJ.
