SEI SEGA
Sei Sega are a Bilbao-based band with openly anarcho-punk roots, with politics front and center (with song titles like Zuen Legeak or Lanari Ez!—roughly “Your Laws” and “No to Work,” respectively). Their sound is steeped in declared influences such as The Zounds, early Chumbawamba, and—judging by their chaotic, exuberant live energy (this part is our own take, not theirs)—Rip Rig and Panic. Sei Sega emerge from bands like Vulk, Aihotz, and Serpiente, from the Soinu Basatiak collective, from a tradition of self-management. But what truly matters about Sei Sega—beyond who’s on stage, what each person’s role is, what led them to form the band, where they’re heading, or what their plans might be—is that the moment the first four bars hit, it feels like Exene Cervenka and John Doe are singing to you in Basque… and suddenly, nothing else really matters.
