Tatxers are a trio from Iruña who have come to rescue us from the boredom, lack of imagination, emotion and spark that so sadly plague our towns. If their debut LP, Garaipen Kutrea (Sorginkale Banaketak, 2020), put them firmly on the map, their self-titled album, beautifully released via Flexidiscos / Tough Ain’t Enough (2023), caught everyone off guard. The sharpest minds of a generation quickly realised that beyond the narrow label of “Basque-language music” lay something far greater: genuine gold.  They’ve been labelled “jangle pop” — the tag once pinned on The Smiths, The Go-Betweens or The Replacements. They’ve been branded “mod music” with absolute certainty. They’ve been told time and again they sound like Hertzainak, Itoiz or Zarama. Whatever references are thrown at Tatxers, one thing is clear: music in Euskal Herria is once again taking centre stage, just as it has done so many times over the past forty years.

Tatxers hirukotea Iruñekoa da jatorriz (Euskal Herriko hainbat hiritan bizi dira), eta gure hirietako asperdura eta irudimen, emozio eta txinparta faltatik atera gaitu. Tatxersen ezer ezin da kritikagai izan, horietan guztia, besterik gabe, perfektua delako. Perfektua The Jam bezala, lehen The Clash bezala, Buzzcocks bezala: BIKAINA. “Garaipen Kutrea” (Sorginkale Banaketak, 2020) estreinako lanak mapan jarri bazituen ate handitik, izen bereko albuma, Flexidiscos/Tough Ain ‘t Enough (2023) lan bikainak, mundu guztia konkistatu zuen, eta belaunaldi baten buru distiratsuenek jakin zuten “euskarazko musika” generotik haratagoko benetako urrea zela. “Jangle pop” gisa etiketatu dituzte (The Smiths, The Go-Betweens edo The Replacements etiketak), “mod music”, Hertzainak, Itoiz edo Zaramaren antza dutela errepikatu diete. Tatxersen inguruko erreferentziak alde batera utzita, argi dago Euskal Herriko musika lehenengo planoan jarri dela, azken 40 urteetako historian askotan egin duen bezala.
