GUSANO

If living with your back turned to the world is a virtue, Gusano are heroes. Like the inside of any ordinary house, in any ordinary town, but from 30 years ago: wooden furniture that doesn’t come apart, vinyl flooring, and sash windows that barely close properly. Heroes of the domestic, heroes of retirement towns, heroes of an old-fashioned way of life. Gusano resist the passage of time and the pull of the outside world, and perhaps that is precisely why they keep the flame of purity alive in everything they do. Rough, coarse, even a little surly—turned inward and stubbornly committed to being exactly as they choose to be. Only a city like Oviedo could have given birth to such an isolated and, in a sense, outcast band (and without even any real reason for it). They pay no attention to trends, and no attention to what people like. After more than five years playing together, and a single released in 2021, Gusano bring forth a bastard crossover between The Jesus Lizard with the spirit of P.I.L., and Flipper with The Fall drifting somewhere in between. In September 2023 they released their debut LP on Humo Internacional, and once again we can celebrate being on the ship we want to be on.
